This week, I welcome Tony Schmitz on the show to discuss the growing trend of composite materials in structural applications. Tony is the vice president and senior project manager of Hoefer Wysocki, an architecture, planning, and design firm known for collaborating with clients to create performance-driven solutions.
With a background in environmental design, Tony joins me to discuss the positive opportunities that composites offer to builders today. These benefits can be seen in reduced costs, better performance and a reduced environmental impact.

I thought I would share some companies doing some of the work talked about in this episode.
There is a company called Icon, https://www.iconbuild.com/, which builds 3D printed concrete homes. They are looking to build there first community of homes this summer in Mexico. They built a prototype in Austin, TX a few years ago at South by Southwest.
Branch Technology is another cool company. They are using a 3D printing robotic arm to print large plastic organic structures. https://www.branch.technology/
Thanks for the information, William. Very exciting stuff! We’ll check them out.
