[app_audio src=”http://traffic.libsyn.com/compositesweeklypodcast/InterviewwithPlygem.mp3″] An issue facing the composites industry right now is how to reuse and repurpose material, to avoid landfilling and label those products as more environmentally “green.” This week, I welcome a company on our show that is reusing composites in some of their lines of exterior building products.

For 70 years Ply Gem, has been an industry pioneer in the building products industry. Headquartered in Cary, N.C., they are a leading manufacturer of exterior building products used in both new construction, home repair and remodeling in the United States and Canada.

Their comprehensive range of products includes nearly everything on the outside of your house from windows, doors, and siding to designer accents, stone veneer, fence, and rail. On this episode, we’ll be discussing some of their roofing products that use recycled composite materials.

Our guest, Lee Clark-Sellers joined Ply Gem in 2011 as Innovation Officer. Prior to joining the company, she was the Executive Director at the Center of Innovation Management Studies at North Carolina State University from 2009 to 2011. Prior to the position within NCSU, Lee worked with Nortel Networks and Bell Northern Research within multiple R&D functions from product development to advanced technology research. Lee received a BS in Electrical Engineering from NCSU in 1986 and a Master of Science in Technology in 1995 from NCSU.
