Recycling those Wasted Fiberglass Parts

Play episode

frp grinderEvery manufacturer deals with it. Wasted fiberglass parts. Which translates into wasted money; a lot of it over time. But what if you could turn that wasted fiberglass into a valuable reinforcing material?

Eco-Wolf Inc. located down in Edgewater, FL has developed a process for doing just that – recovering wasted fiberglass material. This two part process developed by company president Wolfgang M. Unger, uses an FRP Grinder, and  a Dry Additive dispensing system.

The Grinder, when loaded with wasted fiberglass panels, acts as more of a hammer-mill than a mulcher, by recovering the fibers instead of pulverizing them .

Once these fibers are recovered, the Dry Additive dispensing system is used to apply the recycled fibers back into the lamination process. This is done with a hopper and feed line that attached onto the existing chop spray system.

Eco-Wolf’s No Roll™ Formulation
Lastly, Eco-Wolf has designed the new spray-up formulation which virtually eliminates all rollout labor even when using 1” long chop. No Roll™ uses an internal, high-solid spray laminate mix of up to 25% glass fiber that requires no rollout.

This unique design formulation allows for:

  • VOC levels as low as 10 ppm
  • Faster mold turnover, 3 to 6 minute gel time
  • Improved physical product strength
  • Reduced water absorption
  • Can be applied between 0.040” to 0.500”
