[app_audio src=”http://traffic.libsyn.com/compositesweeklypodcast/DrPeterHighlander.mp3″] This week, I welcome Dr. Peter Highlander on the show to discuss how 3D printing is changing the world of orthopedics.

Dr. Highlander, DPM is a Reconstructive Foot & Ankle Surgeon in Sandusky, OH and has been practicing for 7 years. On this episode, he’ll share how 3D technology is revolutionizing the medical field by creating prosthetic limbs for amputees, new faces for trauma victims, and practice models for orthopedic implant surgeons.

Companies such as Additive Orthopedics are developing advanced orthopedic devices with complex geometries never before possible with older, subtractive manufacturing processes. These devices can be customized for individual patients at lower costs. Dr. Highlander will be discussing the process of working Additive Orthopedics to develop customized implants for his patients.
