Sabine’s father Wolfgang Unger is the inventor of recycling and reincorporating FRP and other natural fibers. Back in the 60’s he saw so much waste and scrap going into landfills and knew if something wasn’t done, there would be a big problem. As a chemist, he researched how to grind and reincorporate all the scrap fiberglass, and in 1973 he developed the method.
He designed a machine for “harvesting” fibers that would be optimal for reincorporating into almost every production method – hand layup, spray-up, RTM, spin casting and filament winding.
Today, we’ll be talking about these machines- the Eco-Grinder which harvests the fibers and the Eco-Dispencing Macerator, which applies a measured percentage of scrap fibers with virgin fibers. You can see it working here:
We’ll also be discussing Eco-Wolf’s NO-ROLL system that can help to extend resins up to 50%, reduce rollout labor costs by at least 80% and reduce VOC levels to as low as 10ppm.
